Manchester Healthy Schools works in partnership with a range of organisations and services across Manchester in order to enhance the health and wellbeing offer available to children and young people in the city. 

We believe that working in partnership strengthens our ability to provide the best possible support to schools in order to improve health and wellbeing outcomes.

CAMHS and Behind the Behaviour mental health training partners

CAMHS and Behind the Behaviour mental health training partners

Healthy Schools co-ordinates the Behind the Behaviour Training Programme, a multi-agency mental health training programme which has been designed to support professionals working directly with children and young people. The Children & Adolescent Meant Health Service (CAMHS) is our main partner and many of the training courses are delivered by clinical psychologists and psychiatrists from this service. Other key partners include 42nd Street, Saheli, Emerge and One Education

RSE & Brook

RSE & Brook

Manchester Healthy Schools and Brook work in partnership to deliver and improve relationships and sex education across Manchester. Brook is a key recommended provider on the I Matter secondary curriculum and can assist in the delivery of content in the classroom.

SRE & CMFT Fresh Clinics

Working in partnership on local and national projects such as Love Safely and World Aids Day.

Change4Life Clubs

Change4Life Clubs

Manchester Healthy Schools works with Manchester PE Association to deliver the Change4Life Club programme across Manchester. Change4Life Clubs are designed to increase physical activity levels in less active children in both primary and secondary schools. Evidence shows that Change4Life Clubs are having a significant positive effect on the physical activity levels of the young people involved and their attitudes towards being active and healthy, along with their well being and other aspects of their school and personal life. Together we provide a wide range of free support, resources, training and events to Change4Life clubs across the Manchester area.

Alcohol Education Trust

Alcohol Education Trust

The Alcohol Education Trust (AET) are a key partner of the Healthy Schools team. The AET’s vision is for young people to enter adulthood having a healthy relationship with alcohol. They engage pupils before they begin drinking, help them build resilience skills, know how to avoid risky situations and learn how to look after themselves and each other. Their resources are PSHE Association accredited and their ethos is built around evidence based, interactive, feasible approaches for teachers. Healthy Schools deliver sessions for parents in Manchester schools in partnership with the AET’s Parent and Schools Coordinator for the North West.

Manchester Mind

Manchester Mind

Manchester Mind is an independent local mental health charity which delivers advice, information and support to thousands of young people and adults every year. YASP is the charity’s mental health project for young people aged 15-25.


Manchester Mind’s vision is of a city that promotes good mental health and that treats people with mental health issues positively, fairly and with respect. Manchester Healthy Schools team share this vision and are currently working with Manchester Mind on a number of initiatives to improve the health, wellbeing and resilience of pupils across our city.



Saheli

Saheli

Saheli are the recommended provider for the delivery of sessions on Honour Based Violence or Forced Marriage. The lesson included in I Matter has been quality assured by the Saheli project.

Parentline

Parentline

ChatHealth Parentline is a confidential NHS text messaging service offering advice and support to Manchester parents and carers of children aged 0-5.  

ChatHealth Parentline 0-5 is a text messaging service set up to support the parents, carers and families of under 5’s in Manchester with questions and queries about their health and wellbeing. 


The service is run by local Health Visitors who have the skills and wealth of experience of working with local families. ChatHealth Parentline is confidential, quick and easy, anonymous and non-judgemental. From research, parents using the service found it easier to ask for help and less embarrassing to ask for health advice on personal issues by text than in person or over the phone.


The ChatHealth Parentline Health Visiting Team are able to support with questions generated by text message to a single number from parents, carers and families relating to a wide range of health and wellbeing issues including parenting advice and support, sleep, continence, immunisations, mental health, minor illness, speech, behaviour, temper tantrums, infant feeding, diet & exercise, school readiness, child development and more. Our experienced friendly team can signpost to appropriate services and other support.

How ChatHealth Parentline works:


Text the dedicated number 07480 635 892


The messages are then delivered to a secure website and a health visitor will be able to provide a response to the text


The Health Visiting team responds to texts within one working day


The service operates Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm (excluding bank holidays). Out of these opening times, anyone who texts ChatHealth Parentline will receive an automated message with advice on where to get help if their question is urgent.
