After a delay in the rollout of this EYFS resource the UIP Lead was excited to confirm the delivery of this injury prevention resource aimed at Reception children. The resource was launched in partnership with the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) and focuses on how to stay safe around laundry and cleaning products, supporting children and parents to make their homes safer. Every Reception class in Manchester schools received a class pack which included a big rhyming story book with four accident scenarios, a teacher’s handbook with curriculum links and a home-link pack for every child. The materials were introduced via an online event and it is hoped that schools are making good use of this free scheme. In addition, staff and parents have had an added incentive to use and give feedback to CAPT as there is a cash prize draw! If the resource is well received it is hope that further funding will be given to continue the parent pack annually.
