Supporting LGBTQ+ Young People’s Mental Health

Course description

This full day training provides participants with a basic knowledge of LGBTQ+ identities and an understanding of how to support LGBTQ+ Young People with their emotional and mental wellbeing. Participants will gain insight into the experiences of LGBTQ+ Young People regarding their mental health, and will be equipped with practical actions to support LGBTQ+ Young People. 


Learning outcomes:

  • Develop knowledge of LGBTQ+ identities and terminology.
  • Gain a focused understanding of how and why LGBTQ+ Young People may experience specific challenges to their emotional and mental wellbeing.
  • Increase confidence and build practical actions in supporting LGBTQ+ Young People with their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Cost

This course is FREE of charge to Manchester schools who have completed the current Health Check. For schools outside of Manchester please contact healthyschools@mft.nhs for fees.
