Promoting Positive Body Image and Self-Esteem

Course description

This course defines what body image is, factors that can affect a young person's body image and the potential negative effects of these factors. It will explore how schools can promote positive body image and body confidence through a self esteem and critical thinking approaches.


All courses are FREE of charge to schools and organisations within the Manchester City Council boundary, however a £25 non-attendance fee will be applied if you are unable to attend and less than 24 hours notice is provided (alternative staff may attend in your place).


For schools/organisations outside of Manchester, the following fees will apply:


£50 for full day courses, £30 for half day courses.

Cost

This course is FREE of charge to Manchester schools who have completed the current Health Check. For schools outside of Manchester please contact healthyschools@mft.nhs for fees.

MEET YOUR TRAINER

Hannah Shad

Hannah comes from a primary education background and taught in both the UK and British International Schools. She has held a range of roles within her career including Key Stage lead, Pastoral lead and PSHE lead. Her most recent teaching role was as an SEMH teacher in an SEMH alternative provision giving her in-depth knowledge and experience on supporting children with adverse experiences and additional needs. Hannah is therefore very passionate about supporting young people holistically and supporting their social and emotional needs. Hannah has previously been our PSHE lead and is now our Social and Emotional lead. Hannah is determined to highlight the importance of good Social and Emotional health and how these skills can support young people in every aspect of their lives and education. Hannah loves to travel and enjoys music, food, reading and mindfulness practises.
