This one-hour training session will help schools identify the key requirements for effective drug and alcohol education and understand how to build on their existing competencies and improve the provision of drug and alcohol education. Attendees will also have the opportunity to consider how they can identify and support children and young people who may be affected by substance misuse.
- Articulate the quality standards for effective drug and alcohol education in the classroom.
- Plan for efficient needs assessments.
- Identify risk and protective factors for drug and alcohol use amongst young people.
- Identifying and supporting children and young people who are affected by parental substance misuse.
This course is open to all staff who work within a school setting. It may be of particular interest to those involved in the co-ordination or delivery of PSHE.
This course is provided free of charge to schools that have prioritised Drug and Alcohol Education through the 2018/19 Health Check.
